My visit to SATPURA TIGER RESERVE (STR)

Satpura Tiger Reserve(STR) is located in Narmadapuram district, of Madhya Pradesh. In the month of March this year I along with my friends Shom, Spandan, Abha and our parents went to STR. We went to the jungle safari in a Green Gypsy with logo of a Giant Squirrel on it .We wore camouflage dresses and big hats.

I had my camera. Before the safari, our guide explained that the STR was setup in1981. The terrain of the national park is rugged with sandstone peaks like Dhoopgarh peak, narrow gorges, natural water reserves formed by Tawariver and Denwa River.

The forest is semi Deciduous in nature. Since the days are very hot we should keep ourselves well hydrated, keep our mobile phones switched off, be very quiet and watchful for beautiful wild animal in their natural habitat. We went for four safaris all together and we were filled with pure joy with the beauty of nature and wild animals. The most interesting were the “Ghost Tree”, Sambar deer family, peacocks, Wild Ducks, mother leopard reuniting with her cubs, sloth bear enjoying Mahua, Giant squirrel-the acrobat, crocodile-the dead log and many more.

The magic happened in the afternoon safari at Churnagate. The thrill and adventure to track down the tiger through the fresh pug marks and alarm call of the animals was great experience. The tiger could be spotted resting near a water body after his meal. We could also spot the kill- and domestic cow from the village in buffer area. The tiger was lying down cleaning his paws and his vibrant yellow coat. He occasionally rolled side to side, stretched,yawned and licked his teeth and whiskers. The funny thing was to watch some brave crows sitting on his head and picking his ears. Sometimes upon hearing any sound he would leisurely lift up his head to give us a look-“THELOOK” was majestic and fierce fully graceful. I took pictures of the magnificent creature in my camera as well as in my mind scope. One thought that kept on haunting me after the trip was that such a majestic creature should not go extinct. I will do my best for “Tiger conservation”.

Story Name : The Princess, Dragon and the Knight

Once upon a time there was a castle in which lived a Princess. She had a best friend which was a dragon. The dragon’s name was Diego. Everyday she would go to play with Diego in the garden. One day she went to play but couldn’t find Diego. The Princess searched for Diego in the garden and found a fairy suddenly. She got scared and asked the fairy, “Who are you? Where have you come from?” The fairy smiled and said, “Don’t be scared of me. I am a fairy and I came from Fairyland.” The fairy knew about what happened with Diego and asked the Princess to go to the mountains with thorny vines. A Knight from another Kingdom captured and kept Diego in the mountains.

The Princess went furious, took out her sword and went to the mountains to free Diego. She fought with the Knight and defeated him. She went to the King and told him about Diego. The King listened to her carefully and promised that Diego won’t be captured again. The Princess came back to her Kingdom with Diego and thanked the fairy.
